The state is determined to convict him and see Fatos Nano only in prison FATOS NANO ACCUSES - THE PROSECUTORS ARE DELIBERATELY AND THOUGHTLESSLY SILENT The political, social and moral situation in the country is under pressure from the past. The legal capacity of society to begin the process of legal progress, the implementation of legal norms and procedures, has been surpassed. Ex-documents have been exploited and are being used by many to strike at political opponents or to take revenge, to exert political pressure through criminal prosecution. Last week in Tirana, two distinguished figures of our nation, members of the Political Bureau, Hysni Kapo and Rita Marko, were declared innocent; their case had been raised by the accusations of former political persecuted persons. These two personalities now possess a clear historical profile. In fact, as the major political trials against Ramiz Alia, Nexhmije Hoxha and several senior leaders of the PPSH are causing anti-conformism and uncontrolled behavior in Albanian public opinion, the opponents of the opposition, mainly the PD, are trying to replace them with new trials, in order to shift public attention away from the emptiness of power and its failures in the economy. It is quite clear that, in the case of the trial against Fatos Nano, the current state is trying to take revenge for the moral, political and civic challenge that the former prime minister, the chairman of the Socialist Party and at the same time the leader of the opposition, posed to the anti-popular power, through his statements and his historic interview during the trial. In the trial of Fatos Nano, more than once, actions are encountered that prove a lack of transparency, prejudiced behavior and tendencies to close the process at any cost. ... In conclusion, Albanian citizens clearly see that this process is not about one person alone, but about justice, the rule of law and the democratic future of the country.

Statement by the Presidency of the Socialist Party of Albania The Presidency of the Socialist Party warmly greets and supports and raises awareness throughout the country regarding the fair, courageous and independent decision of the Court of Cassation, which annulled the unjust and one-sided decision that upheld the capital sentence against the chairman of the Socialist Party, Fatos Nano. Although the trial of Fatos Nano has taken on the dimensions of a serious and unusual legal, political, civic and national concern, the Presidency of the Socialist Party deems it necessary to denounce before the entire Albanian and international political opinion the serious legal and moral violations being committed against this process. In this regard, the SP calls on all political forces, civil society organizations and international institutions to follow the developments of this process closely and not to allow justice to be used for political purposes.
