He was questioned on the basis of the documents and statements received from the Italian authorities concerning the funds allocated, the agreements, and the way they were used. Later, the prosecutors read out a large number of papers, testimonies and materials that had come from the Italian side, but according to the defense and observers in the courtroom, these materials did not reveal anything incriminating for Fatos Nano. In this context, the names of senior Italian officials Xhami de Mikels, Enriko de Maja, Torkualo Kardili, Alla Mura, as well as the executive director of the firm "Levante Co", Xhuzepe Perrnjola, were mentioned. According to the materials read out, everything was decided by the Italian side on the basis of Law 49 and their respective mechanisms. Luan Hajdaraga ... yesterday the ambassador of Slovakia held meetings with representatives of the Socialist Party and the government. The talks dealt with bilateral relations, the political situation and opportunities for cooperation. The Slovak representative praised the democratic developments and expressed interest in more frequent contacts. This is the consequence of his current ferocity toward me, a ferocity that comes not only from his emotionally unbalanced character, but from a marked dose of resentment and revenge. Never has Mr. Qeleshi's low intellectual or professional level bothered me, but he amazes me with his denigrating approach toward me, insofar as he himself is a blind instrument in the hands of a political clique. Just as unbelievable is the way in which he tries to denigrate my figure by relying on dry and unworthy formulations. He does not address the court with arguments, but with slanderous and primitive insinuations. In this courtroom I am not defending only myself, but also the elementary principles of a fair trial. I repeat that none of the documents received from Italy contains even a single piece of evidence implicating me in unlawful acts. All decisions were taken by the Italian side according to its procedures and in accordance with Law 49. Therefore, when the prosecutor attempts to build accusations on emptiness and prejudice, he does nothing more than further burden the farce of this process. My calm does not stem from any political calculation, but from the full conviction that the truth is on my side. History is not written with shouts or slander, but with facts."
