EARLY ELECTIONS — HERE’S WHY!
The people must go back to the ballot boxes, no longer to overthrow a system, but to bring to power those people and political forces that guarantee them even more freedom, democracy, peace, prosperity, justice, well-being, and the rule of law
Dear readers, we have chosen to present the document by using the question-and-answer format so that it may be as understandable as possible and as close as possible to the general reader.
First, why should early elections be organized?
- There have also been governments that served until the end of their mandate and did not prolong their own life more than necessary, but when a situation such as ours arises, with a deep political, economic and social crisis, with a lack of confidence in governance, with extreme aggravation of political and social contradictions, with continuous violations of human freedoms and rights and of the constitution, then the solution is to turn to the people to renew the mandate of government.
But why has our country come to such a situation?
- Because of the anti-popular and anti-national policy pursued by this majority, which has destroyed the economy, impoverished the people, and has aroused and is inciting hatred, division, corruption, insecurity and injustice.
What are the factors that have brought the country to this state?
- The factors are many, but among them we can mention: the lack of a realistic and workable economic program; political adventurism; concentration of power in the hands of a narrow group; violation of the laws; subordination of institutions; lack of dialogue with the opposition and with social groups.
Is it possible to get out of this crisis?
- Yes, it is possible, but this requires a major political and social turn. It requires the restoration of the legitimacy of power through free and fair elections, respect for the rule of law, social reconciliation and the establishment of a new course of development.
What do the early elections aim to achieve?
- They aim for the people to express themselves freely, to give their judgment on governance, to restore trust and open the way out of the crisis.
Who will accomplish this?
- Only progressive, left-wing and democratic forces can accomplish this, those that place the country’s interests above party and personal interests.
Why does the Socialist Party seek this solution?
- Because it feels responsible before the people and believes that Albania deserves a more just, more democratic and more humane government.

Conference proceedings: “Albania and the new Europe”
For two consecutive days, around 50 politicians, experts and scholars from Albania and abroad discussed at this meeting organized by NATO and the North Atlantic Assembly.
The conference, with the participation of foreign and Albanian personalities, addressed issues related to Albania’s European perspective, regional security, relations with NATO, and the democratic processes in the country.
In the opening remarks it was stressed that Albania needs political stability, deep reforms and integration into Euro-Atlantic structures. Participants highlighted the importance of regional cooperation and an active foreign policy.
There was also discussion of the political crisis in the country, the economic situation and the need for a new climate of understanding among political forces.

RISSHI may be brought before an international court
FINANCIAL POLICE WAREHOUSES ROBBED IN MIRRËS
Two new... and the Party of Ki[...]? of the enterprises yesterday, have created a real national alarm. Nearly 60 depots? and army warehouses and military units have been stolen from or robbed. A great deal of war material, ammunition and weapons have disappeared without a trace. Likewise, the financial police reported that warehouses and its premises in the north of the country have been attacked. The event has raised major questions about public order, state responsibility and public safety.

A report from Skopje emphasizes that the situation of Albanians and the political movements in the region remain worrying. Protests, hunger strikes and attempts to leave the country are mentioned.

The superphosphate plant in Laç on the verge of closure
A real crisis for the national economy
The disappearance and interruption of production at one of the country’s most important chemical plants is causing severe economic and social consequences. Workers express concern for their future, while specialists warn that the plant’s closure will damage agriculture and the chemical fertilizer market.
According to local sources, the lack of raw materials, high prices and declining demand have worsened the situation of the plant. Some specialists are calling for urgent state intervention and investments for its recovery.

Ecological roundtable of the Eurosocialist Forum
On 20 April 1994, a meeting of the Eurosocialist Forum was organized, devoted to environmental issues, sustainable development and the role of young people in public life. Discussions focused on pollution, forests, waters and the prospects for cooperation with similar European organizations.
Participants stressed that environmental problems cannot be separated from social and economic problems. More attention was called for to poor areas, public investment and civic education.
The meeting also addressed the need to bring Albania closer to Europe and the need for a new democratic culture.

The Greek diplomats did not leave
At least for this week, it is reported that the issue of the departure of the Greek diplomats has not seen any new development. Official sources say that contacts are continuing and that further diplomatic clarification is expected.
The relevant comment says that bilateral relations remain sensitive and that a measured institutional language is needed.
