In fact, this move [...] is such that it cannot pass unnoticed at the national level. It needs to be understood, explained, and assessed. In recent days, some sides have urgently tried to present this meeting as a secret agreement with political consequences. Letter from the chairman of the Association of Professional Journalists of Albania addressed to the chairman of the board of the “Soros” foundation, Mr. Teodor Ruselt [?]. As it stands, these actions pose a risk of violating press freedom. It would, however, be unreasonable to equate professional rights with defamation or false news. In the letter addressed to the board of the “Soros” foundation, the chairman of the Association expresses concern about the climate in which the Albanian press is working and asks that press freedom be protected, but at the same time that ethical and professional standards be respected.
