Hundreds of soldiers are sent only to vote in Zall-Herr Television and other state structures are violating the law on orders from the PD to make votes; the people see it THE SOCIALIST PARTY DENOUNCES Statement by the Presidium of the Socialist Party To public opinion, Instead of the campaign for the by-elections for deputy in constituency no. 115, Tirana, being a confrontation of alternatives and programs for the country’s future and a fair comparison of the candidates’ qualities, over these days there has been a shameless intervention by state forces in favor of the ruling party. Throughout this period the state television, radio, other media, the public administration, transport, funds and state personnel have been used relentlessly by the Democratic Party and its government for propaganda and political pressure. Instead of ensuring a calm and free electoral process, the authorities are using every means to manipulate the result. In the Zall-Herr area, hundreds of soldiers have been sent only to vote. This is a serious violation of the law and democratic morality. State television and other state structures are being used on the orders of the PD to manufacture votes. The people see these actions and judge them. The Socialist Party of Albania strongly condemns this unacceptable practice and calls on public opinion, political forces, institutions and observers to closely follow developments in this area. We demand full respect for the law, equality between the parties and democratic standards. Only free competition of alternatives and not political manipulation can serve the citizens and the country. THE PRESIDIUM OF THE SOCIALIST PARTY

The Secretary for External Relations of the Socialist Party of Albania, MP Ilir Meta, concluded his several-day visit to Denmark. During this visit he held meetings with senior leaders of Danish social democracy and with representatives of various political institutions. At the meeting with Prime Minister Pol Nirup Rasmussen, the political developments in Albania and the prospects for relations between Albanian and Danish progressive forces were discussed. The importance of international support for democratic processes and for the country’s integration was also underlined. The visit was assessed as useful for strengthening the Socialist Party of Albania’s contacts with European social democratic partners.

These things of the people, and about Zall-Herr, as well as on TV and in every other line and elsewhere, are used in a one-sided way, for the interests of power. The use of state television as a propaganda tool in the service of the ruling party is one of the most visible expressions of this behavior. ZALL-HERR Today, before the meeting with voters took place, the Socialist Party candidate in constituency no. 115, Tirana, held a meeting with young people and residents of the area. In the discussions, dissatisfaction was expressed with the economic situation, the lack of investment and the government’s unfulfilled promises. Participants stressed that the vote of 29 May will be a judgment on those who have abused citizens’ trust. They called for change and greater responsibility from the central and local authorities. The meeting took place in a warm atmosphere and with broad participation.

Mr. HENRIK MADSEN PRESIDENT Mr. HENRIK MADSEN PRESIDENT The greeting from the representatives of the Euro-alliance’s social democratic youth at the 30th Congress of the Young Social Democrats of Denmark expressed the desire and will of this organization to support all political forces and all members of PESSH, wherever they are in Albania, in the struggle for democracy and progress. In this context, the greeting addressed to Mr. Madsen wished success for the congress and for the strengthening of cooperation between socialist and social democratic youth. The greeting valued the support that PESSH and the Albanian socialist youth have found among their European friends in their efforts for integration and democratic development.
