VIOLATION OF THE FREE VOTE - A DANGEROUS PRELUDE TO THE UPCOMING ELECTIONS
- the invalid elections in Libofshë are a direct accusation against the «Meksi» government.
PD: They should gather with the ballot box under any condition
In the afternoon of the noisy country, yesterday’s development of these elections, beginning with the panic that had not even subsided before the count of the ballots had finished, as well as the later panic-stricken course of this process, speaks of a failure already in advance and, as such, places early political responsibility on the «Meksi» government.
We are for an honest political struggle in which, always, the people decide freely, independently and calmly
- Declaration of the parliamentary group of the PSD -
The parliamentary group of the PSD, through its chairman Skënder Gjinushi, states that the Social Democrats are for a regular political struggle in which the free citizen can decide, without fear or terror, the fate of himself and his children.
It makes clear that power at any cost ultimately turns into its own loss of legitimacy in the eyes of the people. In its statement it calls on the state and legislators to clear their path of orders and party politics.
It is holding on to power with such violence that the Socialists are taking it hostage along with themselves.
After the statement of the PDS, the PSD has set out its position on the events in Libofshë and elsewhere, describing them as condemnable and highly disturbing for the normal development of political and civic life.

More than 5,000 workers in Ballsh risk losing their livelihood
What happened on 29 May in Libofshë was foreseen. It was not even considered by political society anywhere. A voting process was taking place and nothing more. It went on like any other Sunday and farmers, villagers, traders, craftsmen or state employees were carrying out their duties as citizens. But quite suddenly, quiet democracy, still with its eyes turned to the right side of the country, fell into a frightening pit. One so deep that it still cannot recover from the shock. What happened that day was real for Albanians. The violence used to hold on to power was widespread. People who should have protected the life of the state and its citizens insulted without cause, out of hatred for age and political conviction, women, peasants, and anyone who dared to stand near their own vote. In fact, the citizens of Libofshë did nothing but fight to preserve order and constitutionality, so that they could vote in peace. Officers of the Public Order Police, of SHIK, soldiers and officers paid with citizens’ taxes, violated the calm of this electoral process with weapons in hand. Such a disgraceful act marks a black stain on Albanian politics. For politics to make progress in Albania, it must accept its responsibilities. Otherwise, democracy is nothing but a lie in the face of those who are supposed to build it.
