THE CUTOFF COLUMNS OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY

- After the former owners, it is now striking hard also at political persecuted people, and defends Kesh without its own social base. - The loss of its social base leaves the PD without the legitimacy of the people's vote. - Early elections are the only logical path to overcome the crisis, avoid violence and police terror, and guarantee the future. That it has not made the base of the politically persecuted its own is clearly shown by the daily events of the '90s. In the most spectacular, but also most condemnable and ugly way, this decomposition was highlighted at the meeting of the National Council of the Association of Former Anti-Communist Political Persecuted Persons, after repeated appeals, but with no response from the government or President Berisha to meet their legitimate demands. After the government's anti-national decisions regarding the former owners and the media criminalization of their demands, the crisis in relations with an important part of the PD's social base, the political persecuted, proved on the highest level that the party's supporting pillars are collapsing. It became clear that the policy of violent revenge and denial of rights that it is pursuing no longer has social support and is leading it into an increasingly dangerous isolation. Representatives of the political persecuted made it clear that the promises made to them have remained on paper, that their moral and material rehabilitation is being dragged out, and that the government is using them as political decoration rather than as a stratum seeking justice. They denounced the arrogance of power, the unjustifiable delays, and the selective treatment they are being subjected to. This position of theirs is not just a momentary dissatisfaction. It expresses a deep crisis of trust, an open distancing from the policy of a party that once claimed to represent them. Today, through its actions, it is proving that it is unable even to keep the minimum promises made to the strata that brought it to power. On the other hand, the reaction of the authorities was the usual one: silence, pressure, manipulation and attempts to cover up failure with propaganda. But reality cannot be hidden. The loss of its social base leaves the PD without the legitimacy of the people's vote. When power is cut off from the strata that supported it, it remains only a mechanism of force, inclined toward violence and police terror. Under these conditions, early elections remain the only logical path to overcome the crisis, avoid violence and police terror, and guarantee the country's democratic future.

The Socialist Party supports PAD's initiative for an urgent parliamentary session

We socialists have been, and are, against violence against free citizens. The parliamentary majority and the government are undermining the constitutional order and political pluralism. This situation requires an urgent debate in the Assembly and greater responsibility from state institutions. Therefore, the Socialist Party supports PAD's initiative for an urgent parliamentary session. The request for such a session is linked to the events of recent days, to the use of violence against protesters, and to the worsening political climate. According to the socialists, the country cannot be run by police orders and intimidation of the opposition. (Continues on p. 2)

In Korçë, law-enforcement forces have exerted pressure to remove the Socialist Party from the building where it carries out its activities. The intervention of prefect Mr. Qemal Mici has temporarily suspended this action, but the event has caused great concern among socialists and public opinion. According to sources close to the PS branch, this action is considered arbitrary and politically motivated. A lawful state cannot use force against opposition parties.
