THE CONSTITUTION IS ON THE AGENDA

What do the political parties say? SKËNDER MINXHOSHI, Afërdita Prronja Social Democrats: "THE CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY IS THE RIGHT PATH" Christian Democrats: EDUART SELAMI, chairman of the Democratic Party: "PD NOT WITHOUT THE NEW CONSTITUTION OF ALBANIA" LOVE YOUR FREEDOM BEFORE THE NATION! AND NATIONAL THINGS -SAMUEL HUNTINGTON / Representatives of political forces yesterday gave our newspaper their views on how the constitutional issue in Albania should be resolved. Contacted by telephone, from the main parties of Albanian politics, senior officials, deputy chairmen, heads of parliamentary groups, etc. answered questions about the role of constitutional institutions, the need for a referendum or for a Constituent Assembly, as well as the path that should be followed for the approval of the fundamental law of the state. Interview with Mr. Namik Dokle, deputy chairman of the Socialist Party Socialist Representation: Why do you consider the drafting of a constitution necessary? Isn't today's constitutional package sufficient? Namik Dokle: The constitution has been, is and will remain the fundamental law of every country. No one can think that Albania can continue for long without a constitution. A provisional constitution, for the needs of a transitional phase, cannot replace a full constitution. Therefore, drafting a new constitution is a necessity. And regarding the procedure that should be followed? Namik Dokle: We think the fairest path is that of the Constituent Assembly, which would have fuller legitimacy to approve a constitutional text with broad consensus.
