LOST CHANCES
By Dr. Servet Pëllumbi, Secretary of the Socialist Party
The time when questions were being asked
The time has come when, as they say, balances should be drawn. To ask as yesterday and to understand correctly the course of a vain and failed period. There are many questions raised today, but still no answers.
The visit of the Minister of Defence was not even meant to appear on the official agenda, and yet it was chosen, no doubt, as a way of conveying concern, but not explanations. Enough time has passed, while the silence from several recent events remains.
In fact, the people have asked about the elections of 26 May, about their violent closure, and about the consequences of what is called the transition. Questions have also been asked about agreements that did not bring social peace, about an economy that did not recover, about an administration that swelled rather than strengthened, about institutions that were used more than they functioned.
Today is the time to ask about prices, poverty, work, the exodus, the lack of security, and the path the country is taking. If there is one thing that must be said clearly, it is that lost chances cannot easily be brought back.
In this sense, this is not only a matter of governmental failure, but of a national waste of time. Albanians have waited for more, endured a great deal, and received less than was promised to them. That is why answers are sought, not excuses.
For those who govern, questions are not hostility. They are an obligation. And answers cannot be given with propaganda. They require responsibility, honesty, and the will to change course when the course proves wrong.
A lost chance is always heavier when it is repeated. Albania cannot afford to lose again.
The drama of Albanian emigrants continues: ALMOST 55,000 PEOPLE FORCIBLY RETURNED FROM GREECE ARE ASKING THAT HOPE AND WORK BE GIVEN TO THEM IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY

The government responds by speculating with stale comments about incredible statements and secret agreements

According to the reports coming in, and also according to various data, it emerges that most of the Albanians forcibly returned from Greece have settled in the southern areas and are looking for ways to make a living. The lack of work, the lack of assistance, and the administration's inability to cope with this influx are making the situation even worse.
In many cases, their return has not been accompanied by any concrete measure. Only declarations have been made, while in practice there is no plan at all. This situation is turning into a source of social and economic insecurity.
If urgent measures are not taken, the drama of the returned emigrants will deepen. They are not asking for charity, but for hope and work in their own country.

An important turning point in bilateral relations and at the regional level
Italy - Albania's natural partner
The developed countries, without doubt, belong to a world in which relations between countries take on new dimensions. In this sense, the ties between Italy and Albania carry special weight, not only because of geographical proximity, but also because of shared interests.
At a time when our region is facing many difficulties, cooperation with Italy is seen as a factor of stability and development. This relationship should be viewed not merely in economic terms, but also in political and cultural ones.
Italy remains an important partner for Albania, while Tirana should know how to make better use of the opportunities created by this proximity.

Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
In connection with various reports and comments that have circulated in the press in recent days, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarifies that relations with neighboring countries and with international partners remain an important part of the country's foreign policy.
According to the statement, Albania is interested in correct and mutually beneficial relations, in line with national interests and international obligations.
The statement also emphasizes the need to avoid misunderstandings and hasty interpretations that damage the political climate.

MACEDONIA TOO IS RETURNING THE ALBANIANS
The firmness and attitude of the Macedonian authorities toward Albanians is becoming increasingly harsh. According to the reports received, forced returns have also been recorded on the eastern border, which is further worsening the situation of hundreds of families.
Instead of humane and lasting solutions being found, immediate expulsion measures are being implemented. This creates tension, insecurity, and despair among those returned.
The problem requires an institutional response and concrete support for those left with no way out.

Does Albania have an embassy in Macedonia?
This question is being asked more and more often at a time when the lack of official reactions to the problems of Albanians there is striking. The need arises for more active representation, more sensitive to the issues affecting the Albanian community.
If such a representation exists, it should be more visible in its public positions and in following developments.

ROBBERY AND ... SILENCE
Trade unionism
From the center of the capital, as various sources report, thefts and robberies are being repeated with worrying frequency. Residents are demanding more security and a faster response from the relevant authorities.
Instead of clarifying the cases and punishing the perpetrators, institutional silence often stands out. This feeds distrust and the feeling that public order has weakened.
This is not only a police problem, but also a social one, because insecurity affects the daily lives of citizens.
HAS
DANGER FOR PEOPLE
Trade unionism
Since the early 1990s, the trade union movement has been seen as a necessary mechanism for protecting workers' interests. However, under the new conditions, it is facing many difficulties.
In many cases, unions have not been able to intervene effectively in the face of violations of labor rights and economic insecurity. This leaves workers more unprotected.
A reorganization of trade union activity and greater commitment to the concrete issues of people are needed.
HAS
The employment of workers on a part-time basis, informal work, and the weakness of institutional oversight are creating a dangerous social environment.
The remedy begins with awareness and a clearer approach to defending work and human dignity.
