GENERAL AMNESTY - AN ACT OF HIGH HUMANISM
- An amnesty, without releasing Fatos Nano, would be a demagogic propaganda act for both domestic and international opinion
- INTERVIEW BY THE DEPUTY CHAIRMAN OF THE SP AND CHAIRMAN OF ITS PARLIAMENTARY GROUP, NAMIK DOKE, GIVEN TO THE EDITOR OF "ALDI JUPË"
- There is talk of a general amnesty and it is expected that high-ranking figures of the PPSH or high-ranking leaders of the army and the Ministry of Internal Affairs before the 1990s, convicted of political, economic, etc. crimes, would also benefit from it. Will political activists and political prisoners of this period also benefit, such as the former Minister of Defense, the former head of the SHIK, etc.?
- In the draft of July 12, let the one released at the start of the year not be amnestied, to be judged if he would not at least prove his innocence for Mr. Nano.
- Article 1 of Recommendation 6 of the European Legal Conference speaks of "special and specific constitutional and legal guarantees for political and press offenses".
- Likewise, Article 2 of the same document, clearly alluding to Mr. Fatos Nano, speaks of "special protection against political trial". Meanwhile, another side says that the action of justice should not serve political destabilization in a country. So how can the case against Mr. Nano be called a normal criminal process, when the entire Albanian opposition has described it, and continues to describe it, as entirely political?
- From the humanist standpoint, this punishment is unjustified. Detainees and those convicted for political motives in Albania constitute a category different from ordinary criminals. The provisional constitution has sanctioned political pluralism and, within this framework, no punitive measures of a retaliatory nature should be taken against political opponents.

Whose cloak will be put on corruption
- Without going into the arguments about corruption as a deep phenomenon of this criminalized society, let us note from the outset that these disputes, as a result of which Mr. Berisha’s frontal attack against Mr. Meksi also arose, may be only the tip of the iceberg of the strained relations at the top of the country’s leadership. Therefore, by simple logic, anyone is free to ask: why is this conflict erupting precisely now and not earlier?
- And the first possible answer to this, of course, comes from the tangled ties not only between the individuals, but also between time and place. The attempt undertaken to maneuver, using anti-corruption, to divert attention from the sharp economic and social problems, is highly visible. But no less visible is another option: that the "fight against corruption" is being used to settle scores within the ranks of power.

JUSTICE, HURRY UP, AND WE GOT THE POLICE WHIPS ON OUR BACKS
- Serious work is tied up on the right track...
Yesterday, I Gjeçarbari sounded the alarm; he is one of the members of the seven confined families. The latter is in conflict with the new owners of their house. Having come to us, these people complain about the brutality of the police at Tirana Police Station No. 2, where, according to their statement, they were beaten with whips by policemen from that station. This happened after a fire broke out in their home. They also claim that the police favored the new owners of the dwelling, while they, who have lived there for 28 years, were expelled and are now left out in the open. In the field, purges are being prepared
For more than two weeks now, problems with electricity supply have begun to be felt in various places in the Kukës district. The main reason for this situation remains the lack of rainfall and the low water level at Fierzë. This has led to long power cuts for both households and enterprises.
Residents complain that they are facing numerous difficulties, especially in mountainous areas, while local authorities promise that measures will be taken to deal with the situation.
