POLITICAL PARTIES ON CHANGES IN GOVERNMENT

THREE QUESTIONS TO DEPUTIES OF THE POLITICAL PARTIES 1. What reasons do you think lie behind the recent changes in government? 2. What is your opinion of the coalition? 3. How do you see the future of the government?

Socialist Parties

Prof. Dr. SERVET PËLLUMBI Not simply a change of ministers, but a change in governance There is repeated collusion with the socialist government and this has turned into a style of governance. People have lost confidence in the government, while the prime minister has pre-empted every analysis and political responsibility with changes in names. I do not think the problem is solved by personnel replacements. The essence lies in the way the country is governed. The government must confront the harsh economic and social reality, unemployment, the problems of privatization and the situation in the countryside. If the course does not change, nothing will change for the citizens either. As for the coalition, I think it has become more of a numerical formula than a political partnership with shared responsibilities. (continued on page 2)

SOCIAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY

SKËNDER GJINUSHI Those who lead the process of this coalition cannot speak about their government; they did not want the truth to be told[?] The situation that has been created is the product of governance without transparency and without responsibility. Instead of analyzing the causes of the crisis, cosmetic solutions are being offered. The coalition cannot function as a cover for the government's failures. Whoever leads the process must also bear the main responsibility. Partial changes do not answer the crisis of trust. What is needed is a clear program, honest relations among partners, and respect for the public. (continued on page 2)

The latest ignorance on the crack[?] Residents of the flooded areas continue their protest, demanding compensation and a final solution to the problem. According to them, the authorities' promises have remained on paper. The strikers declare that the economic situation of their families has worsened severely and that the lack of state intervention is pushing them toward extreme forms of protest. They call for the involvement of central institutions and full transparency regarding the allocated funds. (continued on page 10)
