THE ACCUSED REQUEST THAT LEÇRENT SIMON AND LAWYER CARRERON APPEAR BEFORE THE COURT AT THE SAME TIME The examination of the case began yesterday at the Tirana Court. The trial had been suspended following a request by the defense to question in the courtroom the victim’s lawyer Simon and lawyer Carreron. The defense argues that their testimony is essential for the full clarification of the case. At yesterday’s hearing, the defendants and their lawyers appeared, while the prosecution insisted on the admission of the evidence collected earlier. It is based on the accusation of causing temporary incapacity for work to a citizen 1. Zef Brozi, President of the Court of Cassation, submitted at the end of September his request to leave office, since his mandate expires on 10 February 1995. 2. During this period there have been disagreements with the Ministry of Justice and the Prosecutor General’s Office regarding competencies and the handling of a number of cases. 3. The Prosecutor General has addressed the People’s Assembly to lift the immunity of the President of the Court of Cassation, relying on a criminal accusation for causing temporary incapacity for work.
