Price increases that directly affect people's standard of living

A clipped statement says the price of oil: [unclear text] Price increases that directly affect people's standard of living A clipped statement says the price of oil: From the mere rumors that the government is preparing to raise the price of oil, gas, other fuels, and electricity, citizens are facing the prospect of a new blow to the family budget. This increase, which is being justified by market difficulties and import costs, falls directly on people's standard of living and affects not only transport, but also production, trade, and services. The table below gives some indicators of prices and percentage changes: No. Description Was Price in leks Increase in percent 1. Urban ticket 3 7 lekë 40 percent 2. Salary [illeg.] 160 33 3. Subscriptions 120 180 15 4. [illeg.] 60 80 20 5. [illeg.] 80 93 33 6. [illeg.] [illeg.] 104 20 Note: the published table is partially illegible in the image and some figures cannot be read clearly.[?] Beyond these figures, the heaviest impact will be felt in goods transport, agricultural and industrial production costs, as well as retail prices. For low-income families and pensioners, any such increase means reduced consumption and an inability to meet basic needs. (text continues damaged and not fully legible)[?]

The Socialist Party does not play the oracle at the expense of the people's labor

The Socialist Party does not play the oracle at the expense of the people's labor As has become evident, during certain periods of Albanian political life there have been, and continue to be, attempts to distort the role and positions of the Socialist Party; now this is also evident in efforts to fabricate accusations or warnings not based on facts. In this context, the issue of rising fuel prices and the effects they have on everyday life is also being mentioned. The Socialist Party has been and remains opposed to any measure that burdens the poor and middle classes and undermines citizens' purchasing power. Instead of oracle-like pronouncements and speculation about market conditions, what is needed is a clear economic policy, transparency in decision-making, and institutional responsibility. If the government undertakes such increases without accompanying measures and without social protection, then the consequences will fall on ordinary people, on pensioners, workers, and families with limited income. The Socialist Party cannot be held responsible for a policy it does not lead, but it has the duty to raise its voice against such injustices. (the full text is not clearly legible in the image)[?]

The whole burden falls on the citizen

The whole burden falls on the citizen The price of train travel tickets increased by 100 percent. Water, electricity, the telephone, and transport are weighing more and more heavily on the citizen. Merchants are passing the new cost on in prices, while the income of most families remains unchanged. In a fragile economy, every such blow to basic services has chain effects throughout all levels: from the worker going to the factory, to the student attending school, to the pensioner who can barely afford medicine and daily bread. A more responsible and more measured intervention is needed to prevent the burden on the citizen from becoming even heavier. (text and headline may contain inaccuracies due to low legibility)[?]

Is this the only alternative?!

KOPEÇ Is this the only alternative?! Instead of raising prices and worsening the condition of the poor, the government should look for other ways to secure budget revenues and manage the crisis. There are alternatives in the fight against abuse, smuggling, tax evasion, and waste in the administration. A policy that takes the easy way out and burdens the citizen cannot be called reform, while other sources of revenue are left unattended. Before people's bread is touched, privileges and corruption should be touched. (Continues on page 2)

CONFUSION

The bread around which they use for folku[?] is being closed off The measures taken by the government and other institutions to restrict or raise the prices of certain goods and services have created a sense of insecurity among citizens. Instead of clarity, contradictory messages are being sent, increasing confusion and panic. Many families are asking what will happen to supply, transport, and daily payments, while merchants and middlemen benefit from the uncertainty. (Continues on page 2)

Three killed and two injured in 24 hours

FIER Three killed and two injured in 24 hours These successive events strengthen the thesis of the anti-Albanian press Such murders, only 280 firearm murders for the year 1994 in Vlorë[?], according to the published data, show that the security situation remains grave. Within 24 hours in Fier, three victims and two injured were recorded in different incidents that shook public opinion. The police are investigating the motives, while witnesses give different versions. Beyond the human tragedy, these events are also being used by foreign media to create a distorted image of the country. (Continues on page 2)
