FACING THE QUESTION: WHAT IS GOING ON LIKE THIS?

Scandals, fraud, corruption and the plundering of property show the complete paralysis of today’s government The false reports first and foremost arouse outrage because the new government does nothing but rummage, make [?], announce and record its own decisions, while the people wait, stunned and left without explanation, wondering what will happen tomorrow. People rightly ask: what is going on like this, why is there such a confused and irresponsible behavior? In the memory of public opinion, the first scandals involving foreign trade, arbitrary seizures, open favoritism, and the distribution of state property without criteria have not yet died away. There was talk of honesty, but fraud emerged; there was talk of order, but disorder was seen; there was talk of democracy, but the takeover of institutions by inexperienced and irresponsible people is now appearing. Corruption is becoming a daily phenomenon. The plundering of national property is taking on an organized form. No one is being held accountable. In many sectors, incompetence, improvisation and lack of control reign. This situation has increased citizens’ mistrust and made their daily lives more difficult. Instead of being governed with seriousness, with a program and with transparency, contradictory signals are being given: a decision is made today and denied tomorrow. This is the complete paralysis of today’s government, which cannot hide behind fine words. The facts speak for themselves. The simple and serious question is posed: what is going on like this? Who bears responsibility for this situation? The people have the right to demand clear answers and honest action in defense of the public interest.

The Assembly of the Academy of Sciences under diktat

Prof. Zija Xholi Prof. Vili Popa As soon as 2 February began, Shaban without a doubt, the time for changes comes. [?] In the Academy of Sciences, instead of academic freedoms and scientific debate, pressure is being exerted and predetermined decisions are being imposed. The Assembly, which should be a forum for free thought, is being turned into a formal approval mechanism. In these conditions, the concern of researchers is great. The principles of the institution’s autonomy are being undermined and a spirit of mistrust and submission is being created. Decision-making cannot be built on orders and diktat. The Academy of Sciences must remain a home of scientific thought, intellectual independence and public responsibility. Any outside interference that distorts this role harms not only the institution, but also the country’s cultural and scientific development.
