BERISHA ABOVE THE HEAD OF THE PD

Dr. Servet Pëllumbi: BERISHA’S CLOCK HAS STOPPED AT 22 MARCH... Yesterday’s statement by the chairman of the socialist parliamentary group, Prof. Dr. Servet Pëllumbi, concerning the meeting of the leadership of the PD and the tension within that party, has been widely reflected in today’s press. What stands out is that, according to the statement, former President Berisha is trying to keep the leadership of the PD under full control and to avoid democratic developments within it. The text stresses that Berisha’s political clock has remained at 22 March 1992 and that he continues to speak and act with the mentality of that time. According to him, the internal conflicts in the party are linked to the lack of democracy, the concentration of decision-making, and the exclusion of dissenting views. The statement assesses that this situation shows the deep political and moral crisis of the PD. It also underlines that the country’s political future requires real pluralism, functioning institutions, and a responsible opposition. In the end, the conviction is expressed that citizens will know how to judge political developments correctly and that the time of manipulation is coming to an end.

It is the duty of state institutions, civil society, and religious communities to unite in order to put an end to this wound. Only the enforcement of the law, civic education, and public awareness can help eradicate blood feud.
