The DPSH cannot cure the tritano-visual syndrome

Failure is not only a matter of the head. It becomes clear when, only one day later, on Monday, after the great “success” they scored with their eyes closed together with the nobles and allies, the colonels of the “pending” municipality, the ruling figures of the right-wing coalition gathered like wet hens in the party “headquarters.” Yes indeed, they gathered the division of the 1st corps of the socially grazed boys in the meadows of communism, as the prime minister has spotted, to sip the tails in the hope that the wind of panic will yield a fresh dose of social democratic juice. There were some opposition TV stations, but be careful, the world does not want to sell the country for this. They take a little sugar powder in the morning so they will forget. Now?... Likewise, the divisional educator of the socially grazed corps in the right-wing meadows, by the prefect of the pro-Greek district, thanks to the corresponding “success,” frightened them. As we were informed, an event was held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the victory over fascism at the “A. Z. Çajupi” theater. Korçë, “Zëri i popullit”

The rapid transition of the DPSH into opposition, in favor of its own reorganization, and the release of Nano from prison as an opportunity for its dignified restart

- Declaration of the Steering Committee of the PS of Tirana - OBSERVES: 1. That the blows and declarations of the United States of America directed at commissions, groups, or leaders of the opposition are not accidental. They aim to accelerate the transition of the DPSH into opposition and the creation of a new force with a truly opposition identity. 2. That recent developments in the countries of the East and the Center show that the positions of the parties governing in the name of anti-communism are weakening and losing the support of the masses. 3. That the haste of part of the opposition press and of certain personalities in portraying Mr. Nano’s release as a sign of weakness on the part of the government or the President constitutes a harmful action for the opposition itself. 4. That the creation of a constructive opposition and the restoration of its credibility must pass through the political and physical liberation of Mr. Fatos Nano and his elevation to its leadership. 5. That the current government and its relations with the DPSH have currently discredited this political force, causing it to lose the classic features of an opposition party. It has been and continues to be a satellite party of the Berisha regime. 6. It is absurd for an opposition to be absent from the political scene and replaced by a second party configuration, whose aim is to eliminate it. THINKS: That political developments will necessarily be oriented toward the return of a new opposition, supported by forces and personalities with national credibility, with a clear democratic stance and independent from government orientations. ACCEPTS: That creating the conditions for the new opposition to operate and function normally, structured to help the country’s democratization process and European integration, is in the national interest. In Moscow, the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II is commemorated

World leaders marked 9 May, the anniversary of the victory over fascism, by speaking at a solemn session in Moscow. There has probably never been so much talk about the need for peace and international cooperation as there was yesterday in the Kremlin. The reason was the presence of high-level representatives from 56 countries, among them 17 heads of state and government. The festive session was also attended by UN Secretary-General Boutros Ghali and NATO Secretary-General Willy Claes. All participants appealed for peaceful conflict resolution and cooperation. “Let us learn from the past,” said Russian President Boris Yeltsin. “The freedom and well-being of peoples today depend on a stable democratic order. Let us renounce rivalries and the division into winners and losers, since today there are no winners and losers.” * * * At the center of the ceremonies organized for the 50th anniversary of the end of the war was the military parade and display of Russian weaponry in Red Square in the presence of guests from all over the planet. * * * Russia’s Minister of Defense, Pavel Grachev, speaking at the parade, stated that “the world is facing a new threat.” He described it as the threat of “small wars,” which “have turned into regional conflicts.” (Continued on page 4)

The authorities ignored 9 May

Yesterday, both day and night were turned into a smear over the 9 May ceremony, alongside the government’s own ceremony, which as usual was carried out with honors and official applause. The speech that Prime Minister Meksi is to deliver on this day will be a dry summary of the phraseology that calls this day “the day of victory over fascism,” and not “the day of the liberation of the peoples from fascism.” By separating May from the anti-fascist war, the government uses it to silence the great contribution of the Albanian people in that war. 9 May is not given the place it deserves as a historic date for the peoples of Europe and for all progressive humanity. Strike in Bytyç

The closure of the Seriqa mine is paralyzing the Bytyç area. According to the chairman of the PS of this district, Fadil Hyseni, the decision to close it was taken as part of an anti-Albanian policy. The residents of the area are protesting every day and demanding that the mine continue operating; otherwise, they will begin a hunger strike. (Continued on page 2)
