EVERYONE ACCUSED BECAUSE WE PUBLISHED “ZËRI I POPULLIT”
At 9:30 yesterday, the trial against the head of the newspaper “Zëri i Popullit”, its editor-in-chief, Rexhep Meidani, had begun. He had been sued by the head of ShIK, Bashkim Gazidede. At the proposal of the ZP lawyer, Spartak Ngjela, the trial did not go ahead, since the court dismissed the case requested by the lawyer on the grounds that the newspaper in question has no legal standing. Meanwhile, the lawyer for the head of ShIK, Dhori Sollaku, said in his statement that the case should continue against the journalist, since he wrote the article. Journalist Mero Baze also took part in the hearing, declaring before the judge: “I am the author of the article and of its publication; therefore, even though I am not the accused, I want to be punished together with the newspaper, since the publication was made of my own free will.”

All parties asked Judge Xheladin Kapxhiu to apply the law, because that newspaper had no legal entity and, as such, could not appear in court. To justify the claim that the newspaper should be the accused party, the plaintiff’s representative, Dhori Sollaku, said in court that journalist Mero Baze should appear as a “legal person”.

The third conference of the eurosocialists of Vlora, which gathered to assess the current situation in the country and the party’s activity so far, carried out its work in a calm atmosphere and with many remarks and suggestions.
Dear friends and fellow euro-socialists of Vlora
Speech by Servet Pëllumbi at the conference
Comrades,
Together we have made, and are making, comprehensive efforts to develop a Socialist Party of a European type, with free and democratic thinking. This has at the same time been the aspiration of all honest socialists in Vlora and beyond.
However, to achieve this level and experience, a great deal of daily work is required, especially in building new organizational structures and further democratizing internal relations.
Passivity and inactivity must be overcome through openness, cooperation and mutual respect. Only in this way will we be able to strengthen our party and make it more capable of facing the political challenges ahead.
In the analysis of the political situation in the country, it was emphasized that the strategy of tension and confrontation pursued by our opponents does not serve democracy. On the contrary, we must respond to it with a strategy of understanding and political tolerance.
Particular praise was given to the work of PRESSH and the youth forums, which are making an important contribution to bringing young people closer to socialist ideas.
The conference stressed that the upcoming elections must be held under fair conditions, with clear rules and broad civic participation.
