2 million dollars missing in Blerim Çela’s protective silence!

2 million dollars missing in Blerim Çela’s protective silence! - The President of the State Control, Blerim Çela, former scandals caused in the defense of the state. - The new Penal Code, a more suitable case than a routine interpellation to Mr. Blerim Çela. It is entirely correct and public to say that the People’s Assembly in Albania, in 1993, the “voice of the people,” took the place of the nannies, as has happened before as well. As a member of NATO we note that Albanians are now preparing for the democratization of a parliamentary life more active than before. The opposition still remains in difficult pursuit of this balanced parliamentary work, with the necessary demands of an executive. Blerim Çela, confirming that the head of the State Control has brought a parliamentary interpellation, has this time been the subject of the parliamentary day’s attention and not only that. Beyond our debates loaded with harsh political language, the issue of such a disappearance approaching 2 million dollars in state defense inevitably raises questions that cannot be covered up with procedure and postponement. If the State Control had information, then why was it not made public in time? If it did not, then what kind of control was actually exercised? Precisely in this sense, the case seems more suitable to the spirit and letter of the Penal Code than to a routine interpellation. (Continues on page 2)

INTEGRATION

A full 6 years after 7 [?] May 1990 and just as fully 6 years before, on 21 May 1987, at the time of the democratic and concrete Albanian upheaval, on the eve of the disintegration and failure of the totalized communist political system in the former Soviet bloc and the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Republican Party of Albania (PRSH), on the initiative of Dr. Sabri Godo as chairman with the National Assembly, was creating and making concrete its platform, through the pluralist democratic concept, as a center-right force and oriented toward the families of all the conservative sister parties of Western Europe. Within the framework of this decisive movement for the political life of Albanians, from its very founding the Republican Party of Albania chose European integration as the strategic destination of its political action. This orientation, which at the time seemed to many as still a distant goal, today takes on increasingly practical substance and requires greater institutional and social responsibility. Pillars that delay Albania in Europe

Pillars that delay Albania in Europe It was expected that work on ratifying the Albanian-German agreement would have taken a somewhat clearer path in these days, but Prime Minister Aleksandër Meksi’s government has still not brought the agreement to parliament. Although this document opens an important window for economic and institutional cooperation with Germany, the dragging out of the procedures is turning into a political obstacle. In recent days much has been said about the pace of the country’s European integration, but integration cannot remain only the slogan of conferences. It is measured by concrete decisions, by responsibility, and by administrative speed. Every delay in this direction is a squeezing of Albania’s opportunities to move closer to Europe.
