Chronicle On the occasion of the political decision of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe regarding Albania’s admission to this institution, the leadership of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, the leadership of the Socialist Party and the Minister of Foreign Affairs organized a press conference yesterday for local and foreign journalists. The conference was attended by PS Secretary General Fatos Nano, Secretary for Foreign Relations Prec Zogaj, Chairman of the Socialist Parliamentary Group Kastriot Islami, and PS leadership secretary for public relations Arta Dade. Mr. Nano described this decision as an important success for Albania and an additional chance for its integration into the European family. He said that the PS and the opposition in general have contributed to this process by supporting the fulfillment of democratic standards. It was emphasized that the socialists’ consensus constituted one of the decisive “votes” for admission. The Nano issue was also discussed, along with his and the Socialist Party’s right to seek freedom and innocence by all democratic means.
