Afraid even of songs

On Thursday, August 24, the Eurosocialist Forum of the Berat district organized the entertaining concert “Artistic Evening” at the “Tomorri” stadium in the district, in the presence of 3,000 spectators, with the talented guests Robert Violeta Manushi, singer Robert Aliaj, who had come especially from Greece, and singers Irini Qirjako and Petrit Berisha, under the direction of the well-known Berat-born director Shpëtim Dyrmishi.
To take measures to organize the concert as effectively as possible, the Eurosocialist Forum also invited the law-enforcement authorities.
However, right from the outset, through a few police officers from Berat—among whom the “well-known” chief of police Daniel Frashëri, known for his exploits in using violence against Berat’s socialists, stood out—the police caused a disturbance in the stadium foyer, unwanted by the concert organizers. They prevented singer Robert Aliaj from taking the stage for nearly 20 minutes and unlawfully detained Edi Spahiu, chairman of the district Eurosocialist Forum and organizer of the show. This left a bitter impression on those present.
Through their songs and performances, the singers conveyed to the audience a message of peace, unity, and Albanian identity. It was emphasized that the concert, inspired by Robert Aliaj, created a “political evening” for the people of Berat. The spectators displayed a high level of culture and applauded the show throughout, while the law-enforcement forces, with more than 100 police officers deployed on the field, created a backdrop that served as stage scenery.
The detention of the Eurosocialist Forum chairman marks the sixth such incident at cultural and political events organized by the Socialist Party. The artists received the applause and respect of the audience, while the police forces demonstrated their fear even of love songs.
This show also conveyed to the audience the democratic messages promoted by the Socialist Party.
