Socialist Party Deputy Chairman Namik Dokle received His Excellency, Baron Gerhard Van Pallandt, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in our country, at the Party headquarters. At the meeting, the Dutch ambassador outlined the Netherlands’ contributions to our country and expressed interest in the development of mountain tourism in the northern areas. He enquired about the political situation now, on the eve of the parliamentary elections, and asked to learn about the Socialist Party’s positions on the laws recently passed in parliament and the Party’s electoral platform. The Socialist Party Deputy Chairman thanked the Netherlands for its contribution and its valuable assistance to Albania during this period of transition, and emphasized the possibility of further expanding relations between the two countries. He then explained to the Dutch ambassador the key points of the Socialist Party’s electoral platform: implementing a new policy of governance, in which parliament will play the leading role; ensuring the independence of the judicial bodies; free enterprise and social solidarity; and integration into Euro-Atlantic structures. Namik Dokle then addressed the escalating tensions on the eve of the elections, provoked by those in power, and the Socialist Party’s conviction that it would win these elections. Asked by the editor of “ZP” about a “suggestion” made by the newspaper “RD,” the deputy chairman of the PSSH, Dr. Servet Pëllumbi, stated as follows: As a rule, I do not comment on matters raised in the press, and even less so when it comes to “RD,” “Albania,” or some other newspaper. Nevertheless, I will make an exception in the case you are asking me about. I do so because this suggestion has taught me that the authenticity of my file has apparently become the focus of attention at the time I left to study, that is, 41 years ago (and it will soon be half a century!). Democratic investigations—no joke! To answer a suggestion with a suggestion—in other words, “repaying good with good”—I suggest that “RD” recommend that its commission also consider these three points: 1. I did not study in Moscow, but 600 km farther north, in Leningrad (St. Petersburg). I mention this so that the place and time are respected; otherwise the file will miss the mark! 2. My fellow students in Leningrad at the time were not numerous, and we knew one another well. You can easily ask them and find out whether any of them suffered anything bad as a result of the “spying.” The point is to ensure that the commission’s file does not miss the mark in its content either! 3. Since the commission informs “RD” and “Albanian” about its “creations,” or those of the “hermetic office,” even about the labels applied to the “victims,” there is no reason for it to wait for a written request from me before making the file public. I asked for this at the Press Conference, and I repeat it today. I am neither worried nor do I intend to wander around pointlessly in the Court of Cassation offices, which “drink from the same spring” as Berisha’s “seven.” In short, I do not want to get drawn into Mr. Berisha’s police-style game—a game from which, as events will show, even he himself will not know how to get out. We have no time to waste. We have more important things to do. The electorate is waiting for us to explain clearly the “technology” of victory on May 26. That will clarify everything. Nothing can shake our confidence in victory. The chair that follows “Sillo” across the meadows of Dajti has now been shaken!
