No problem between the leadership and the newspaper

Luan M. Ramaj is appointed editor-in-chief of the newspaper The spirit of understanding between the party structures and the newspaper will contribute to strengthening the newspaper’s authority in the service of the Socialist Party’s alternative We declare the 15 journalists who approved the protest In response to the statements by the Secretary General of the Assembly of Albania, Luan Ramaj, which were made public today in “Zëri i Popullit” through a statement from the newspaper, on behalf of the PSSH Presidency and by its chairman, Fatos Nano, we clarify the following: 1. The Presidency of the Socialist Party has been informed of the content of the document titled “Zëri i Popullit,” issued as a statement by 15 journalists of the newspaper, and of their unacceptable assessments of the appointed editor-in-chief, Mr. Luan M. Ramaj. 2. The PSSH Presidency had no knowledge of any concerns from the newspaper’s employees until the moment the statement was published, since none of the socialist journalists who are members of it had previously raised any formal request or concern before the Presidency. 3. The Presidency of the Socialist Party considers the statement by the 15 journalists unfair and hasty; it not only does not help solve the newspaper’s problems, but also creates a harmful precedent for the normal functioning of the party press bodies. 4. The appointment of Mr. Luan M. Ramaj to the position of editor-in-chief is a decision made by the party’s responsible structures and aims to increase the newspaper’s authority, quality, and credibility. 5. The PSSH Presidency calls on all journalists and employees of the newspaper to avoid actions that damage its public image and to contribute responsibly to strengthening the role of “Zëri i Popullit” as a forum of opinion. 6. The Presidency expresses its conviction that, with a climate of understanding and cooperation, the current difficulties will be overcome and the newspaper will fully regain its mission in the service of the program and alternative of the Socialist Party.
