Stop the bloodshed! No to catastrophe in Shkodër. This is the appeal of hundreds of workers in white coats,” who demonstrated and marched along the city’s main streets, as was to be expected from the staff of the civil hospital and the district polyclinic. Their demonstration was prompted by the wounding of two doctors from Shkodër Hospital, surgeon Zamir Shazhi and orthopedist Fatmir Ibrahim, on Thursday afternoon. At 11:00, the protesters stopped in the square in front of the Shkodër prefecture building, where they also called for the local authorities to show solidarity with their protest. At that moment, alongside dozens of other citizens, the mayor, Bahri Boriçi, was also there, accompanied by representatives of Shkodër’s political parties and representatives of the commu- (Continued on page 2)

At the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Mr. Elmaz Sherifi, received the US Ambassador to Tirana, Ms. Mariza Lino, for a meeting. Among other things, she emphasized the full support the American Government gives to the Government of National Reconciliation. Minister of Labor Sherifi briefed Ms. Lino on the difficult situation currently prevailing in Albania as a result of a widespread wave of destruction, fires and violence. He also highlighted the efforts made by the Ministry to secure emergency aid from international humanitarian foundations and associations, which would make it possible to alleviate, to some extent, the social problems during the current crisis prevailing in the country. For her part, the US Ambassador to Tirana, Ms. Mariza Lino, expressed great interest in the issue of labor relations and the activities of Albanian non-governmental organizations. At the end of the meeting, thanked the American ambassador for the interest she had shown in the extremely difficult problems facing our entire country today, as well as for the support the American Government gives to Albania and the Government of National Reconciliation in these difficult times.
