AT THE HEADQUARTERS OF THE SPA At yesterday’s meeting with the special assistant for relations with Parliament and the Federal Council of Austria, Alfred Koler, and the Head of Protocol, the Austrian ambassador in Tirana, Edo Kocmann, the leader of the Socialist Party of Albania, Fatos Nano, discussed the latest developments in the country. Nano and the leaders of the SPA expressed this political force’s will to contribute to the stability of the country and to the holding of free elections. The interlocutors also assessed the importance of cooperation with other democratic forces and the need to provide economic assistance to Albania. At the end of the visit, Alfred Koler presented the chairman of the SPA with an invitation for an official visit to Vienna. The interlocutors underlined that the integrity and competitiveness of the elections will improve thanks to positive steps to restore order, calm, and the normal functioning of local and central administration. During the conversation with the vice president of the European Socialist Party, Mr. Xhohaqopullos, the chairman of the SPA, Mr. Fatos Nano, said that this political and revanchist force, which the right-wing forces are displaying, is trying to destabilize the country and hinder the democratization process. Nano and the leaders of the SPA pointed out that Albanian socialists are determined to make their contribution to creating an atmosphere of calm that would lead to the holding of free and fair elections. According to them, the government of national reconciliation and the preparation of the general elections will produce the expected results in restoring order and calm. The interlocutors also emphasized that for the June elections there is a need for multidimensional assistance, and the PSE should intervene with Western governments to come to our country’s aid in this process. “As for Albania, the people must be asked, not the nationalist of Korçë”, is the headline of “Zëri i Popullit”.
