In order to contribute to the solution of the political situation in Albania, while being in line with our political principles, and while being faithful to the 9 March agreement achieved with the mediation of the OSCE envoy Mr. Vranicki, the parliamentary group of the PPSH is ready to cast its votes to elect, in a single vote, in a consensual manner, 9 members of the CEC. Since consensus has now acquired a certain political-social character, with the aim of easing the Albanian blood that has been shed and traumatized. Since the parliamentary group of the PPSH considers that voting only for the part assigned to the Government, and then for the head of the CEC, not only violates the 9 March agreement, but burdens it with new tensions that will further worsen the situation. Since voting only for the part assigned to the Government, leaving out the main opposition political forces from the consensus, would create a vacuum and serious political consequences for further democratic development. Since only a consensual vote would make it possible for the political parties together with the government to face their responsibilities before the Albanian public in the parliamentary and presidential elections. Since the opposition is only seeking to avoid attempts to steer the country toward a vote without consensus and to leave the historical responsibility to the powerless government. Since this was prompted by several meetings with the parliamentary groups in order to find an institutional way out. The OSCE, chaired by Mr. Vranicki, considers unacceptable any attempt to circumvent the 9 March agreement.
