The first post-election session of parliament determined the leadership of the PSSH and the country's new political direction. The presidium of parliament and the parliamentary group of the PSSH will be elected at the next session. This is the common message of the chairman of the PSSH and the reformists elected by the people's vote. The former chairman of parliament, Pjetër Arbnori, said yesterday at the close of parliament that the new five-member parliamentary group of the PSD has registered itself separately. Various comments have described such a move by the PDS, which was not guided by Fatos Nano, as an important achievement. Earlier in the day, parliament decided on the form of the committees and the parliamentary administration, aiming to increase the effectiveness of future work. The future chairman of parliament, on the basis of the cooperation and negotiations held with 26 members of the parliamentary cooperation group for Albania's future, has decided with the parties of the coalition and the parliamentary alliance of the left that the majority in the presidium should be left-wing. This means that left-wing figures will come to the head of parliament. The new presidium, secretary and deputy chairmen will be announced on Monday. The social democrats requested guarantees of their presence in the presidium of parliament and in the Albanian delegation to the European Parliament. After that, a decision was expected on the deputy chair of parliament from among the elected members of the PSD. The leader of the opposition, Tritan Shehu, has asked that the leadership of the opposition in parliament be in the hands of the PD. That is what he told the media before the session, stressing that the opposition should be represented according to the votes received in the elections.
