The People: Berisha, hand over power!

29 June - the day of the free vote, the final break of the people with Berisha’s dictatorship Message from the chairman of the PSSH, Fatos Nano, addressed to the Albanian electorate The 29 June celebration has arrived (the day of joy for our victory over Berisha’s anti-popular and criminal regime) and will be celebrated as the day of the destruction of a regime that plundered the country, destroyed the state, and plunged Albania into anarchy, crime, and poverty for your families. It is ensured that the will and determination of Albanians is the decisive force in the final break from Berisha’s yoke, but without taking the final challenge of democracy on 29 June. True patriots, workers and craftsmen, peasants and intellectuals, pensioners and former political persecuted, veterans and emigrants, the youth and women of Albania feel that the day of the free vote is approaching as the day of salvation for the country and for the family from Berisha’s murderous clan. Our prime minister is ready to leave in disgrace. The shadow of disaster and economic and moral collapse is leaving our families. The shadow of democracy is returning. Vote to remove this destructive clique from power completely. We, the united forces of the coalition for Albania’s future, are putting an end to this tragedy and building the government of national salvation. We will form a government and parliament of the Albanians, not of Berisha. We will build a democratic, civic Albania, free from fear, violence, corruption, and humiliation. For our farmers we will secure land, means of production, markets, and credit. For entrepreneurs, opportunities for investment will open up. For workers, work and dignity will be restored. For pensioners, social protection will return. For the youth, new prospects will open. For Albanian women, dignity and security will return. For all citizens, order, law, and the state will return. We have a certain victory. No one will alter the will of the people. Every citizen and patriot has a duty to defend the free vote, to remain calm, vigilant, disciplined, and determined. Your vote will be the strongest weapon against dictatorship, fraud, and crime. Berisha must go. Albania must be saved. Democracy must win. Berisha orders the newspaper “Albania” to lie

The independent media and Berisha’s decisions the newspaper “Albania”, controlled by SHIK and directed by Sh. B. “Albania” published in yesterday’s issue a meaningless and denigrating article against the PSSH and our journalist. As is known, “Albania” is a puppet of the government and its propaganda. It has turned into a servant leaflet of lies and slander. After the publication of the election results and after the opposition’s victory, this newspaper is trying to keep alive the climate of political poisoning. In its article it spreads slander against the leaders of the PSSH and the journalists of “Zëri i Popullit”. These attacks have no value and will not affect the public. The people know the truth and will punish Berishist propaganda with their vote and with contempt. (Continued on page 2)
