The elections of 29 June made possible for Albanians a new chance: for Albanian society to forge a new political and moral climate for the country’s future. For the newly elected deputies, today begins the concrete work of representing the popular will. All eyes are turned to the work of the new Assembly and to the responsibilities it bears for taking the country out of crisis, for order, security and institutional reconstruction. Page 2

“The victors govern”

The OSCE representative for Albania Franco Vranicki: Efforts for political pluralism and the political forces in post-crisis Albania favor the parties reaching an agreement in line with international standards. This means that the winners of the elections must form the government and the losers must accept the verdict of the vote. This is the right way out of the crisis, though not the only one. From this perspective, the latest developments in Albania have been followed with great attention by international institutions. Through these positions, the need to consolidate democratic life and restore constitutional order is emphasized. Page 3
