Final farewell to the “People’s Artist,” composer Çesk Zadeja
Yesterday in the Capital, farewell honors were paid to the People’s Artist Çesk Zadeja. They began with a requiem Mass at the “Sacred Heart” Church. Afterwards, close family members, artists, colleagues, friends and relatives continued paying their respects for nearly two hours in the foyer of the Opera and Ballet Theatre.
Not only they, but Albanian public opinion as a whole, bowed with deep pain and profound respect before the great artist, Çesk Zadesë. Those of Albanian music, ballet, theatre and painting paid tribute and homage to the great Albanian figure, the father of Albanian music ... who travelled a long road alongside entire generations ... keeping immortal ... and the sounds of the artist’s music.
The tributes of people of the arts were joined by those of Albanian state officials: the President of the Republic Rexhep Meidani, Prime Minister Fatos Nano, Speaker of the Presidium of the People’s Assembly Skënder Gjinushi, Minister of Culture Arta Dade, and other figures in Albanian politics.
Our music has thus lost a great man, who will take his deserved place in the history of Albanian music and culture.
Through his work, he belongs to the nation and to the future; his place is in the pantheon of honor.
Composer Aleksandër Peçi, the maestro’s colleague and fellow artist, spoke about his life.
