By F[?]on Br[?]açe To accuse a press officer of corruption without making the accusation known to him is, from the very beginning, an endless revenge. When the accused, the chairman of a very high state body, calmly states: “The whole nation knows that I am not yet making public statements,” then the reaction of the author of the slander is this: “You are not complaining only for yourself, but you are also defending others.” With this reply, the slander no longer targets one person, but all the structures and even the government itself. It is clear that either the question is asked with a clear plan of denigration, or its only value is as political pressure. From 1,500 students taken hostage by force in order to set off fireworks against the government, the former commanders have left a dark trace in our oldest historiography. It is fitting to ask: could it be that precisely those who inspired the coup d’état on 14 September are being revived? Why are slander and denigration replacing real debates? In such a climate, the fabricated involvement of institutions, names, and persons in unproven affairs is only the old tool of street politics. If there are facts, they must be made public. Otherwise, the mud of accusations comes back onto the face of the one who throws it. * * * As the saying goes, the branch for declaring the majority and various political groups enemies has come into fashion. In this way free press, institutions, and even those who remain silent are all lumped together into a single accusation. Is this a sign of strength or weakness? The answer is clear to anyone who does not live on hatred as their daily bread.
