The President of the Republic's visit to the USA continues The President of the United States of America, Bill Clinton, together with his wife, received the President of the Republic of Albania, Rexhep Meidani, in a special setting before the prayer ceremony. The meeting was confidential and held without journalists present. Clinton expressed his pleasure that the Albanian President was in the United States of America and taking part in the ceremony. The President of the United States of America was also accompanied by the Vice President of the United States, Al Gore, and his wife. As the ceremony began, the chairman of the organizing committee, Senator Daniel Akaka, introduced Albanian President Rexhep Meidani after the President and Vice President of the United States of America. During the ceremony, which lasted two hours, the Albanian President and Ms. Albright exchanged views on the situation in Albania. Ms. Albright told the Albanian President that we are pleased that the situation in Albania is continuing to improve. The confidential meeting between the Albanian Head of State and US President Clinton, and the Vice President of the United States, Al Gore, followed later by a meeting with Ms. Albright, came quite naturally after the many meetings Rexhep Meidani and the delegation he leads had held over the course of the day in the United States of America. Tomorrow the Albanian President will have a working breakfast with Mr. Shifter, then meet with the Deputy Secretary for Political Affairs at the State Department. He will have a separate meeting with the President of the National Democratic Institute and with the Attorney General of the United States of America, Janet Reno.
