AMERICAN AND KOSOVAR SOURCES CONFIRM Albanian protests begin around the world BRUSSELS — Two Kosovar Albanian leaders, who were reported to have been executed by the Serbs, are in fact alive, American and Kosovo Albanian diplomatic sources said on Wednesday. Fehmi Agani, a veteran politician who played a key role in the Rambouillet peace talks, and Baton Haxhiu, editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Koha Ditore”, which has voiced the aspirations of the people, were not executed as reported by NATO on Monday, the sources told Reuters. “Yes. We believe they are alive,” an American source said. A Kosovar source said: “We are sure of it. We have it from various sources.” The source said Agani and Haxhiu were still in Kosovo, so it could not be said that they were safe, given the wave of threats and ethnic cleansing taking place.
