The Albanian Government was informed of the serious acts of blowing up the memorial commemorating the fall of the Five Heroes of Vigu, in the village of Vig in the district of Shkodër, as well as the monument erected in memory of the 18th Assault Brigade in Sllovë in the district of Dibra. The Albanian Government considers these acts, carried out within the past 24 hours, a serious attack on the indisputable values created during the Second World War, when the Albanian partisans placed the country on the same front as the broad alliance against Nazifascism. This war deserves our highest respect and appreciation; appreciation and respect for it are part of the effort to recognize the values created by generations. The Albanian Government takes this opportunity to once again express its full determination to recognize and respect the values that the Albanian people have created throughout their history. The Albanian Government is determined to put an end to all primitive practices and reasoning that seek to value certain parts of history by devaluing and harming the values created in particular periods. The Albanian Government, strongly condemning these acts, their instigators and perpetrators, expresses its full determination to identify them and hold them accountable not only legally but also morally, and declares that it will make no compromises whatsoever with any forces or actors who carry out such acts. The Albanian Government undertakes to fully restore these memorials, seeking to set a clear example of civic appreciation for this part of our history.
