ISSUE OF THE DAY As the saying goes: The patient went for wool and came back shorn! Berisha returned from a medical visit in Vienna, but the image of him shown by many television stations immediately after his return brought to mind our saying: “He went for wool and came back shorn!” Berisha looked sicker after the visit. Appearing before the DP leadership gathered in a circle, this time he charged at the PS and Nano, UNDP, the US, Papandreu and Venizellosi... Foaming at the mouth and struggling to find the words, the DP leader called on the DP leadership to keep their eyes open during the elections, because the PS is stealing and tampering with electoral lists through the corruption it has engaged in with UNDP. Ranting incoherently in his nonsensical speech, the DP leader attacked the Greek government, accusing it of working with Milosheviç to bring half of Albania under its control. In short, the cunning provincial was opposed both to drawing up electoral lists under UNDP supervision and to foreign monitoring of the elections, since he has already made up his mind not to accept the outcome of the local elections. He knows well that with foreigners watching, he will be unable to formulate his idiotic accusations, whose pattern he cannot escape! Historically speaking, the asinine nonsense Berisha spewed yesterday brought to mind Enver Hoxha’s speeches, in which he would rip into UNRA and the UN, the US, Greece, China, Japan, Russia, Europe and Australia... Only Berisha speaks Albanian much worse than Hoxha and is notably poor at concealing his paranoia. Looking ahead, Berisha’s continued leadership of the DP looks like the opposition spinning its wheels, having tied its donkey to Berisha.
