Berisha: I will blow you up with explosives

Prime Minister Meta responds harshly, with the language of the law Berisha, a criminal threat yesterday in the middle of Parliament • “Burrel will be your prison” • You will pay dearly for this • I will send you to Burrel prison • Accept the amendments, otherwise your end will come long before the elections Meta: I do not care about the heads of politicians, Berisha or anyone else who tries to violate the Constitution. I am ready to assume all responsibilities in order to prevent Berisha from violating the constitution and causing political instability, imprisoning the people, using violence against Albanian citizens, and trying to seize power through violence. Roughly these were the words of Prime Minister Meta during his intervention before Parliament last night, in response to a statement by former president Sali Berisha. He further said: “To call on the people to overthrow the order and the elected government, these are clear signs that he will blow up the institution of the Presidency with explosives, that he will use bombs and grenades without restraint against every institution and against the prime minister. Berisha is being dragged along like the corpse of a monster from the outlying areas. No one can prove that he did not know his future is determined”. Regarding Berisha’s statements that the police would use force against the institutions, the prime minister said that he had taken measures to ensure that no violence would be used by the law-enforcement forces and that the laws of the country would be enforced rigorously. Berisha said all this in the plenary session, referring to several decisions and constitutional amendments. He stated that the government intended to persecute the opposition and that the majority would push the country toward conflict. [Partial text, some lines unreadable.]

roads, regardless of the minister’s party card, the blame remains with the SP

TODAY’S ISSUE [Continuation text from page 8] Albania before the challenges of the times, where economic triumph and the future require a strong communication network. Numerous and broad economic and social investments and the emergency of urgent reconstruction require a road network, through which the economy is involved, moves and is distributed. The lack of public investment in infrastructure is an old phenomenon. There is no time to be lost with discussions about it. There is now no time for accusations or political accusations and calls, but to find the reasons. In the conditions of a country with a limited budget, new roads must be built as a priority and according to need. No one can prove that the road problem is only a party issue. But the government bears responsibility for the way funds are managed and for the pace of the works. Yet regardless of the minister’s name, the political blame falls on the SP, which has promised more than it has achieved. In this sense, delays, lack of transparency and harm to the public interest remain political responsibility.
