SP: “60 percent of the country with us”

All the others disagree: Zogu: “That would be alarming” Party | According to PS | According to EUROBAROMETER PSSH 60.2% 33% PD 15.8% 25% PAD 4.5% 4% PSD 3.7% 4% PDD 0.5% 4% LDSH 2.9% 6% Others (PR+Pbk+Pdg) 0.6% PDU 1% Abstentions 9% 23% INTERVIEW “The patriot” Ismail Proleshon[?] From Shkodra, the leaders of the Serbo-Montenegrin association speak Tiranë - although it appears against the background of the national debate, Albanian politics has also become involved in the pre-election campaign and has turned to polls and predictions. This work has been done mainly through “Eurobarometri”, an Italian research institute, which has also produced some figures on Albanian voters’ preferences. In recent days the political parties themselves have made their predictions or expressed reservations that this kind of “sport” followed all over the world is not accurate. The government has announced through its spokesperson that it expects to win around 60 percent of the vote in the upcoming elections. A figure that goes beyond what “Eurobarometri” gives, 33 percent. In line with this institution, although it appears to be the winner, the Democratic Party remains far from the percentage published by the government. Meanwhile, the leaders of the other opposition parties have not liked this kind of statement and some call it “alarming”. Page 3

Weapons in shop windows: a gun shop opens

Tiranë: rifles also for sale BULQIZA[?] TIRANË - Weapons, rifles and hunting irons, portable telephones, fuel-powered vehicles, radio receivers, official seals, military decorations from the former army, etc. All this and much more can be bought in the shop opened just a week ago in the center of Tiranë, with the highly meaningful name “Shqiponja”. “At the moment licensed hunting weapons, communication devices, pistols without drum magazines, rubber gloves, etc. are being sold,” the shop owner explains to “GS”, telling us that the first permit he has obtained is for the sale of hunting weapons, while for other weapons he is trying to obtain the relevant licenses. According to Albanian law, military weapons are prohibited for civilian use, but the demand for pistols, rubber batons, handcuffs, etc. seems to be increasing. The new shop is a novelty in the capital and has aroused great interest. Page 3

Many phone calls from ministry phones? Iliridi leads with a fist

The officials dominate the expenses Many phone calls from ministry phones? Iliridi leads with a fist TIRANË - Two journalists in our country have managed to do a lot and apparently will do even more. First of all, these are not just journalists. One is a deputy of the ruling party and, moreover, Minister of State, while the other is the owner of a television station with little experience. In relation to their salaries, the telephone expenses of the offices they run seem extremely high. The minister has drawn attention because of telephone bills that reach large figures. These are monthly payments which, according to some data, reach unusual levels. The newspaper emphasizes that this list includes well-known names from the administration and the media. According to the documents obtained, some institutions have exceeded the planned budget for communications. The article presents this as a sign of misuse of public funds. Page 5

On strike against his father

An unbelievable protest by a 19-year-old from Tiranë “He doesn’t give me what I’m owed...” TIRANË - It is an unusual case, but a true one. 19-year-old Genc Kushi[?], a first-year student at the Faculty of Economics, has gone on hunger strike because of a conflict with his father. The young man claims that his father does not give him what is due to him from the family property and from his savings. According to relatives, the conflict has been going on for a long time and worsened after the son insisted on his share. His father considers the demand unfair and says the boy has no reason to take such an act. The 19-year-old has decided not to eat until the matter is resolved. Although doctors advise him to give up the strike, he has declared that he will not stop without a solution. The case has triggered many reactions in public opinion. On page 5

HERALD - To escape the prejudice of the American villagers where they lived with her family, 27-year-old Robert A. Leys and 26-year-old Dephna Montey decided to live as husband and wife. Their families forced them apart, so the lover wrote a shocking letter in blood explaining the motives behind the double suicide. At her home, the 27-year-old had left his sweetheart a letter in which he wrote that he was shooting himself with a gun and that if she truly loved him she should come to meet him one last time in the small nearby forest. Leys had died before her. 20 minutes later, the young woman shot herself with the same pistol, dying a few seconds later. The girl’s husband had left a few days earlier with the wife of a neighbor. This had led Montey’s family to accuse her of causing the betrayal and to forbid the girl from continuing her relationship with Robert. According to local police, at the place where the couple was found dead, two envelopes were also found: one with a strand of the girl’s hair, the other with five dollars and the note “For two wreaths of flowers”.
