THE CALLS OF THE TREASURE ISLAND
Can we get everything we want within one year?
From the visit of the American-Albanian delegation in Germany. In various countries of Eastern Europe major economic and political changes are taking place. Albania is going through a difficult transition period in which the expectations of the population are high, while the state's real capacities are limited. Demands for an immediate improvement in living conditions, wage increases, employment, supplies, investment, and social support are many. But can all this be achieved within one year? The experience of other countries shows that reforms require time, patience, and sacrifice. The island of treasures does not exist in real political life; it remains a metaphor for limitless expectations. Visits, international contacts, and foreign aid are important, but they cannot replace internal work, institutional order, and society's commitment. Albania needs deep reforms, not quick illusions. In this sense, the question in the title remains essential for the whole public opinion.
We spy on the protest of the Albanian Socialist Party
Mr. Servet Pëllumbi's program made it clear to the demonstrators outside the premises of the Socialist Party that the Albanian government is no longer the one of 1990-1991, which signed conditions unbearable for the Albanian economy, which is now recovering. Soon the problem of loans will no longer be how to stabilize the currency, but where to invest them. Driven by the impatience of some to seek victories as quickly as possible in the fields of a troubled political life, but also by the desire to accuse everything the government does, members of the Socialist Party gathered to protest. The well-known expectation of the country's new democratic standards certainly also includes these forms of political protest. Their law would be the same one that protects the opposition, regardless, but would also prevent the violation of the rights of the majority of citizens. Yesterday, in front of the headquarters of the Socialist Party, groups from the districts protested. Rightly so in a democratic country against the government and against Sali Berisha. It is the democrats who have not only not banned it, but have recognized this right and will continue to recognize it. But the issue is how this demonstration was organized. It most likely resembled the rallies of the PPSH. With slogans driven by hatred, with hysterical speeches in which the government and the country were harshly insulted without any convincing argument. The speeches of Mr. Servet Pëllumbi, Paskal Milo and someone else were followed with indifference by the few people present. This protest, directed against the government and democratic reforms, was a clear expression of the left opposition's inability to offer convincing alternatives. The crowd gathered yesterday looked more like an instrument of political pressure than a free manifestation of citizens. The organizers tried to inflame social tensions, but without major result. The Albanian people are understanding that today's difficulties are the legacy of a failed system and that the path of reforms is the only way forward. Yesterday's protest does not change this reality.
High school gymnasium of the old kind: well-known symptoms of a pathological disease of the socialists
By Namik Dokle. If today in Albania there is talk of a moral crisis, this also comes from the political language used in public debates. Insults, slander, absurd labels, and attempts to discredit the opponent are well-known symptoms of an old political culture. The socialists, according to the author, are bringing back outdated forms of propaganda, attempting to create a confrontational climate. But Albanian citizens are now more aware and do not easily accept manipulation. This pathological behavior helps neither the opposition nor the country. It only prolongs the inherited wounds and hinders the creation of a democratic culture of communication. Albania needs rational debate, not hateful language.
Blocked the British parliamentary mission under translators
ERNEST PËR SODA The chairman of the Albanian Republican Party, Sabri Godo, has declared that with the coming into force of the new parliamentary rules, obstacles have been created for the normal functioning of several missions and contacts of foreign deputies. In this context he also mentions the British parliamentary mission, which, according to him, was put in difficulty by the lack of translators and by bureaucratic procedures. Godo calls on the institutions to be more attentive to relations with international partners and not to hinder their work through poor coordination.
A unifying symbol of its own: Martin Camaj, “word” and contemporaneity
The writer and scholar Martin Camaj is treated in this article as a unifying figure of modern Albanian culture. The author dwells on the value of artistic word, its symbolic force, and its relationship with contemporaneity. Camaj's work is presented as a bridge between tradition and modernity, between the language of roots and new literary expression. In times of cultural confusion, returning to such authors is seen as a way to regain the core of Albanian cultural identity.
MOBILIN JA KU E KEMI, LET'S BUILD THE ALBANIAN REALITY JUST THE WAY IT IS!
Interview with the Minister of Defense, revealed by Safet Zhulali after his visit to the USA
. At the center of the conversation are Albanian-American relations in the field of defense, military aid, and prospects for modernizing the Albanian army. Zhulali emphasizes the importance of cooperation with the USA, seeing it as a guarantee for strengthening security institutions and the country's Western orientation. According to him, Albania must build a new national reality on democratic and professional foundations. The visit to the United States served to establish contacts, seek support, and present the real needs of Albanian defense. He notes that the country cannot remain hostage to the past, but must move decisively toward Euro-Atlantic structures.
